President revealed for UK maths academy contender

University of Oxford professor Alison Etheridge to lead Academy for the Mathematical Sciences

University of Oxford maths professor Alison Etheridge was appointed on 10 May to lead the Academy for the Mathematical Sciences, which hopes to be designated as the national academy focused on the discipline.

Government backing of £6 million for a new national mathematics academy was announced in November, and the grant is still open for public competition.
