Royal Society report calls for ‘balanced approach’ to AI

Science should “celebrate the potential” of AI while “not losing sight” of the challenges

A report from the Royal Society has called for a “balanced approach” to artificial intelligence that takes account of the technology’s opportunities and risks.

In its report, Science in the Age of AI, published on 29 May, the national science academy notes that AI is enhancing efficiency, accuracy and creativity in science, as well as helping to bring about groundbreaking discoveries.
