Royal Geographical Society elects university official and British Antarctic Survey director Jane Francis as president

A palaeoclimatologist, who is also the leader of the British Antarctic Survey, has become president of the UK’s Royal Geographical Society.

Jane Francis was elected on 3 June for a four-year term, taking over from Nigel Clifford, former deputy chair of the Geospatial Commission, a dedicated committee advising the government on geospatial data.
