Materials chemist Robert Mokaya will take on role in 2026

The Royal Society of Chemistry has elected its first Black president.

Robert Mokaya (pictured) will succeed Annette Doherty as president when she has completed her two-year term in the summer of 2026. He will first be president-elect when Doherty takes over from current president Gill Reid on 1 July.
