ABPI chief executive ‘saddened’ by pharma article

Stephen Whitehead, chief executive of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, has said it is “fundamentally untrue” that the UK pharmaceuticals industry exploits “loose regulations” for clinical trials in India, as reported in the Independent newspaper on 14 November.

The article, “Without consent: how drugs companies exploit Indian ‘guinea pigs’”, is the first in a three-part report on Indian drug trials.
