The CBI business lobby group has identified aerospace, agri-food, and chemicals and pharmaceuticals as among seven areas in which the UK has a “clear competitive advantage” and should be developed through the industrial strategy.
On aerospace, the report, ‘Playing our strongest hand: Maximising the UK’s industrial opportunities’, recommends sustained funding from the Technology Strategy Board and the research councils, support for innovation from basic research through to testing, and protection for the R&D tax credit system.
