Healthcare R&D favours pharma over people-power, says Nesta

Adopting healthcare innovations that involve patients and families could save the NHS in England £4.4 billion a year, according to a report published by innovation charity Nesta on 9 April.

Existing treatment systems—designed for hospital-based cures—have been “remarkably slow” to adapt to the biggest health challenges, the long-term conditions such as cancer, diabetes or hypertension, the report says.
