Four companies will each provide genome annotation and interpretation reports for the 100,000 Genomes project.
The companies Congenica and Omicia will work on rare-disease genomes, Wuxi Nextcode will look at rare disease and cancer, and Nanthealth will report on cancer, Genomics England said on 3 June.
Genomics England said that the aim was for each company to provide reports for 2,500 patients, if this could be accommodated within its budget. The organisation intends to learn from a variety of approaches in a pilot phase before agreeing further contracts in early 2016.
