£40m research institute targets NHS patient care

An improvement-research institute is being set up at the University of Cambridge to become a learning centre for improving healthcare for patients.

The Health Foundation will fund the institute with around £40 million over 10-years. RAND professor of Health Services Research and Wellcome Trust investigator, Mary Dixon-Woods, will lead the institute.

Partners in the health services, universities and charities, will be invited to collaborate, the foundation announced on 31 May.
