Innovate UK has made £16 million available through two robotics and artificial intelligence challenges to develop systems that can operate in extreme environments.
The grant calls are open to business-led projects in areas such as deep mining, nuclear energy, space and off-shore energy. Innovate UK said it would also welcome cross-sector proposals or ideas relating to different areas in its announcement on 13 June.
The grants are intended to develop technologies to help reduce workers’ exposed to dangerous work environments.
