North-east hospitals showcase clinical research

The Clinical Research Network North East and North Cumbria and the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are to screen a film aimed at increasing public involvement in health research.

The event is part of local plans to raise the profile of clinical research and encourage more people to volunteer to take part in the studies needed to develop new treatments, the National Institute for Health Research said in a press release on 8 June.

Tracy Scott, a participant involvement manager at the trust, said: “The involvement of patients and the public in research is essential to ensure that we are not only doing the right research but making sure research is done in the right way.
