Planet hunters get go ahead

Permission to build the Plato spacecraft, for a mission to find habitable planets outside the solar system, has been granted by the European Space Agency.

UK space scientists are poised to get involved.

The UK Space Agency will invest £25 million in the development of the novel scientific instruments for the spacecraft, the agency announced on 20 June. UK scientists will collaborate on all aspects of the project.
