Cambridge struggles to fill vacancies in life sciences

Life sciences companies based in the Cambridge area have a tougher time filling vacancies for highly skilled employees than their competitors in other parts of England.

Fifty-three per cent of the life sciences organisations based in the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough region say they had vacancies, compared with 27 per cent nationally, according to the consultancy firm RAND Europe.

The Skills Demand in the Cambridge Area: Attracting and retaining skills report, published on 24 October, examined the results of the 2015 employer skills survey carried out by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills.
