The UK government is preparing to provide £20 million for researchers developing prototypes of quantum-enabled devices.
A briefing event for companies and researchers on the quantum initiative will be held in London on 18 April. The grants, to support the creation of three to five device prototypes, will come from the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.
Technologies that could potentially be developed with the funding include sensors, consumer electronics and digital services, according to the government announcement on 28 March. Examples include navigation systems that can operate without GPS, cameras that can see around corners and secure data exchange systems, it said.
