Royal Academy of Engineering calls for more funding for ‘engineering biology’ research

The UK must take urgent action to capitalise on the potential of its research in the emerging field of engineering biology, or risk falling behind other countries, according to the Royal Academy of Engineering.

In its report, Engineering biology: A priority for growth, the academy calls for more support to accelerate the commercialisation of UK research in the field, which applies engineering principles to designing biological systems and builds on progress in the field of synthetic biology.
