NERC to co-fund £5 million virtual satellite-data centre

The centre will aim to train 50 new PhD researchers and help fight climate change

A new £5 million satellite data centre involving the Universities of Edinburgh and Leeds will use cutting-edge satellite technology to help combat climate change, while also training 50 PhD students.

The Centre for Satellite Data in Environmental Science is being established with funding from the Natural Environment Research Council and the UK Space Agency, as well as from 18 businesses and partners, including Airbus and Unilever.
