Businesses are being invited to bid for a slice of £100 million earmarked by Innovate UK to support R&D through its controversial Smart grants programme.
The funding, which forms part of the government’s industrial strategy, will help businesses take ideas from concept stage to full commercialisation, Innovate UK’s parent body UK Research and Innovation said on 15 July.
Previous Smart grants have supported 3D printing company Photocentric; machine-learning firm Magic Pony Technology; and Cobalt Light Systems, which has developed technology to screen liquids to identify explosives.
