Government spending £30m on ‘electric revolution’ centres

More than 30 research and technology organisations will be involved with the network of centres

The government is to spend £30 million on creating centres of excellence to research and develop electric-powered forms of transport including cars, planes and ships.

Four ‘Driving the Electric Revolution’ centres will be based in Newport, Nottingham, Strathclyde and Sunderland, according to a 4 March announcement by the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy, and the Department for Transport.
