MPs hear mixed messages on the hydrogen economy

Inefficient conversion will be hydrogen’s Achilles’ heel, engineer says

Representatives of two of the powerhouses of UK engineering research disagreed about the potential contribution of hydrogen to the UK economy when they appeared before the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee on 3 March.

The committee is examining whether boosting hydrogen as an energy source in transport, industrial process and domestic heating will enable the UK to meet its obligation to establish a zero-carbon economy.
