Researchers defend plans for NHS database for GP records

           

Open letter comes amid concerns about lack of engagement with patients over now-delayed changes

Academics have defended a government plan to create a central NHS Digital database for GP records in England, which some critics describe as a “data grab”.

The controversial plan, known as the General Practice Data for Planning and Research, would “enable faster access to pseudonymised patient data for planners and researchers”, according to NHS Digital.
