Oxford team gets $3m for pandemic preparedness platform

Rockefeller Foundation money will help expand open-source platform for infectious disease data

The researchers behind an open-source platform for pandemic data have received $3 million from the Rockefeller Foundation to expand their efforts to fight the next Covid-level threat to humanity.

Co-developed by the University of Oxford and Boston Children’s Hospital in the United States, the Global.health platform enables researchers to access real-time, anonymized health data on infectious disease outbreaks. So far it has focused on the initial phases of disease outbreaks, such as Covid-19 and monkeypox.
