UK to build ‘brain’ of SKA observatory telescopes

British institutions to receive £15m in funding for international project strengthening telescopic data

More than £15 million has been awarded to UK research institutions for work developing the “brain” of the world’s largest radio telescope.

The purpose of the Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO) will be to explore the beginnings of the universe, helping scientists to determine in detail how galaxies like the Milky Way were formed.
