Call for $250 million-a-year ‘Cern for climate change’

UK researchers say global supercomputer-powered effort could predict local weather effects of climate change

British scientists have called for nations to invest $250 million (£203m) a year in ‘Cern for climate change’ that would model the effects of global warming on weather systems in unprecedented detail.

Current climate models struggle to capture rainfall and extreme weather events accurately, limiting the ability of countries to put in place effective policies for adapting to climate change.
