The National Institute for Health Research and the NHS have come under fire for their plans to close down a trial register dedicated to Covid vaccines and replace it with a new and wider service.

But NIHR denied rumours that data recorded on a registry of Covid vaccine trial participants have been “lost” as it prepares to replace it with a new volunteer service.
