Budget 2023: Chancellor follows advice from chief scientific adviser to rely on foreign approval processes

The UK is to move to a new model for regulating drugs and medical technologies with the goal of speeding up approvals, chancellor Jeremy Hunt has announced.

In his spring budget on 15 March, Hunt said the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency would become “faster and nimbler”.
