Funder hopes major expansion will secure facility’s status as a “world-leading” genomics and biodata hub
The Wellcome Trust will invest “hundreds of millions of pounds” to double the size of its genetics and biological data research facility.
The health research funder revealed on 5 May that it is investing in the first phase of a planned expansion to the Wellcome Genome Campus in Hinxton, Cambridgeshire. The first phase is expected to nearly double the built area of the existing campus with 180,000 square feet of new research space, as well as a gym, shops and cafes for the local community and people on the campus.
