Lords committee raises concerns that UK government has pivoted too far towards AI safety

The government must do more to help UK researchers and small businesses access computing facilities for artificial intelligence or the country risks missing out on a potential “goldrush”, peers have warned.

The House of Lords Communications and Digital Committee said that the government’s current approach to AI has become “too focused on a narrow view of AI safety” and that a “more positive vision” is needed to enable the UK to compete globally.
