UK fusion energy research body gets new chair

Bernard Taylor will help steer UK Atomic Energy Authority at “exciting time” in fusion R&D

The UK Atomic Energy Authority will have a new chair from 29 April, when Bernard Taylor will take on the leadership of the governing board of the UK fusion energy research body.

UKAEA is responsible for the Joint European Torus nuclear fusion research facility, which achieved a world record in energy generation last December in its final experiments. It is also building a new fusion facility, called the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (Step), in Nottinghamshire.
