“Game-changing” agreement will allow NPL to help work on next-generation nuclear fusion systems

The UK’s national metrology institute has signed an agreement with Cern, the European organisation for nuclear research, to carry out work using high-intensity neutron beams.

By accurately measuring neutron-induced nuclear reactions, the partnership between the UK’s National Physical Laboratory and Cern is expected to help efforts on developing “next generation” nuclear fusion systems.
