RCUK to include statement on impact factors in open-access guidance

Research Councils UK has confirmed that its updated guidance on open access—due to be published this month—will include a statement on the use of impact factors in funding decisions.

The statement will be similar to one used by the Wellcome Trust, which says that it is the merit of the work, not the title of the journal, that should be considered in funding decisions.
