Align open-access policies, says former publisher

Open-access policies must be aligned in order to allow research literature to become fully open and this harmonisation is crucial for researchers funded by more than one source, says Alma Swan of the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition.

In a Nature article published on 27 March, Swan, director of European advocacy programmes at the coalition, an interest group promoting open access to science, adds that universities and funders need to work together towards this goal.
