The publishers of Nature are to launch an online platform in which researchers will be able to publish descriptions of scientifically valuable datasets.
The platform, called Scientific Data, will be open access and will accept submissions from this autumn. It will publish content in the form of ‘data descriptors’. These peer-reviewed articles will consist of traditional scientific content alongside extra content curated by editors. The combination will allow searching, linking and data mining.
