Nature shares article content

Subscribers to 49 journals on nature.com will be able to make articles free to view for non-subscribers, publisher Macmillan has announced.

Nature news reported on 2 December that research papers in 49 of the Nature Publishing Group’s journals, including Nature, are to become available in a screen-view format that can be annotated but not copied, printed or downloaded.

Subscribers, and certain media organisations, will be able to share links to any Nature article, for example, after which anyone can repost and share the link. According to Nature news, the aim is to let researchers and the media read and share articles while at the same time retaining the benefit of subscription fees.
