Scotland adds to growing UK-wide support for rights retention policies from universities

Scottish university and research libraries have released a statement on rights retention, adding to growing support for the strategy to achieve open access.

Rights retention is an increasingly common strategy to achieve open access, in which researchers establish their rights to reuse their manuscripts when submitting articles to journals. Keeping hold of their rights, instead of transferring them to a publisher, enables researchers to deposit the manuscript in an open-access repository.
