As UKRI’s open-access policy reaches its first anniversary, there are mixed feelings about its impact
One year after UK Research and Innovation introduced its highly anticipated new open-access policy, some staff at the national funder say they are surprised by how well the changes it involves have been received by the sector.
All peer-reviewed articles funded by UKRI and submitted for publication from April 2022 onwards must be made open access immediately, marking a stark contrast from the use of embargo periods before open publication was previously common.
