Research budget could face cuts, warns UUK
Nicola Dandridge, chief executive of Universities UK, has warned that research could be affected by predicted “very deep” cuts across all areas of public expenditure. At a fringe event on higher education, Dandridge said: “Teaching budgets within the higher education sector have always been cut to the bone—one area that is left is research. And that’s where I think the debate will be centred and we have to do absolutely everything we can to protect our research investment.”
