Don’t play politics over Offa director, says Umunna

Chuka Umunna, Labour’s shadow business secretary, claims the government is “playing politics” over the appointment of a director of the Office for Fair Access.

Business secretary Vince Cable had recommended the Million+ chairman Les Ebdon for the role, but the House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills Committee said it was unable to endorse the appointment. Umunna said “infighting” was causing uncertainty for universities.
