Exclude overseas students from net migration, say MPs

Overseas students should not count against the overall limit on net migration to the UK, according to a report from the House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills committee published 6 September.

In the report, ‘Overseas Students and Net Migration’, the MPs urge the government to record overseas students under a different classification to “allow the UK to continue to expand its share of the overseas student market”. According to the committee the US counts overseas students in this way.
