The House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee has announced it will publish a report, ‘The Census and social science’, on 21 September.
The report is a response to a government decision to end the practice of collecting census data in the traditional after 2011. In its place, the Office for National Statistics has set up the Beyond 2011 programme to investigate and assess alternative, and presumably lower-cost options for producing population and socio-demographic data for England and Wales.
