Universities and science minister David Willetts has been pressed by MPs for details on the possible impacts of introducing VAT exemptions for for-profit education providers.
At a House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills Committee evidence session on 22 January, members repeatedly asked Willetts to hand over assessments that the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills may have made of the effects that exempting for-profit providers from VAT would have on the rest of the higher education sector.
