Universities and science minister David Willetts has said he does not support a government-funded loan scheme for postgraduate students.
“I do not accept and have not been persuaded at this stage that a government-funded loan scheme is the answer, but I am happy to consider that proposal and others if people make them,” said Willetts in a House of Commons debate on 23 January.
