The UK is number one in the world for open data, according to research by the Open Data Institute and the World Wide Web Foundation.
The UK is described as “the most advanced country for open-data readiness, implementation and impact” in the Open Data Barometer, published on 31 October.
The United States is second, followed by Sweden, New Zealand, and Denmark and Norway in joint fifth place. Kenya is the “leading developing country”, in 21st place, ahead of “rich countries” such as Ireland in 29th, Belgium in 31st and Italy in 33rd, the report says.
