British Academy warns European Parliament against research budget cuts

The vice-president of the British Academy has written to Martin Schulz, president of the European Parliament, saying that the academy recognises the “vital role research and innovation has in helping drive economic growth, as well as research excellence”.

The letter, published online by the British Academy on 5 February, in advance of the European Council Summit in Brussels on 7 and 8 February, warns of the potential consequences of cuts during EU research budget negotiations.
