Cities need more power to deliver industrial strategy

The government must give local authorities more decision-making powers to ensure the industrial strategy works across the UK, according to the Policy Institute at King’s College London.

The government’s industrial strategy green paper may not survive future political turmoil, the instutute says in its report Delivering a Holistic and Effective Industrial Strategy for Everyone, published on 6 September.

Although the industrial strategy demonstrates the long-term plan needed, the institute says, those involved must agree on how to react to political changes.
