The UK risks losing its leading role in scientific research after Brexit, the heads of all five of Scotland’s medical schools have warned.
In an open letter published in The Sunday Times on 4 November, the professors said it was important that the UK did not lose the ability to attract world-leading scientists or global research opportunities in the wake of leaving the European Union.
“We believe that chances to lead major international collaborations and clinical trials could be lost, with Scotland’s world-class reputation for pioneering science suffering as a result,” they said.
