The Labour Party’s plans for a low-carbon economy will create hundreds of thousands of jobs, Jeremy Corbyn has said.
Addressing the Labour Party conference on its closing day, the party leader announced that a Labour government would spend enough to achieve a 60 per cent reduction in greenhouse emissions and create 400,000 skilled jobs in the area of clean energy technology by 2030.
These would be “good jobs based here and on union rates, bringing skills and security to communities held back for too long”, he said, adding that a Labour government would have “plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by the middle of the century”.
