McDonnell reiterates massive R&D investment pledge

The shadow chancellor John McDonnell has outlined how Labour’s industrial strategy, pumped with £500 billion, would boost artificial intelligence, robotics and clean energy technologies.

Speaking at a fringe event organised by the Unite union in the margins of the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, McDonnell outlined investment plans for his party’s industrial and manufacturing strategy, which he said would take a mission-based approach.
