Election heralds ‘challenging’ new year for higher education

All parties have promised more funding for R&D but sector faces months of disruption

As the research world waits for the result of this week’s critical general election, university, business and charity researchers are bracing for a rocky period, whoever wins.

The new chair of the universities association MillionPlus, Rama Thirunamachandran, said it was an “unprecedented time of change for higher education”.
