The government has announced a package of funding for space research and engagement as the UK Space Conference kicks off in Newport.

The largest portion is £20 million for research into forecasting space weather, announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the UN General Assembly on 24 September.

This funding is meant to improve systems at the Met Office Space Weather Operations Centre, through research and innovation on space weather, measurement, modelling and risk assessment.
