Labour targets higher education overhaul

A Labour government would undo the HE decisions of the Conservatives, including abolishing tuition fees and reforming job contracts, says Gordon Marsden.

As the Labour party debates its policy positions at its annual conference in Brighton, the shadow minister for higher education said that the Labour party would emphasise collaboration rather than competition and protect involvement in EU research programmes.

Writing exclusively for Research Fortnight’s sister publication HE, Marsden wrote, “The differences between Labour and the government over higher education policy are stark.”
